Ice Cube y Dr. Dre Fuera Del Caso De Homicidio Por Negligencia

Una demanda de homocidio por negligencia fue presentada por la familia de Terry Carter contra el Dr. Dre, Ice Cube y Suge Knight después de un accidente fatal ocurrió cuando estaba saliendo del set de Straight Outta Compton en 2015. Los demandantes afirman que el incidente fue instigado por la seguridad quien inició Knight fuera del set, lo enfureciendo mientras conducía fuera y en consecuencia golpeó a dos peatones, Cle “Bone” Sloan que sufrió lesiones y Terry Carter cuya fueron fatales.

La buena noticia llegó el viernes para Dre y Ice Cube cuando los cargos tuvieron fueron retirados como parte de la demanda, después de que el juez dictaminó que no estaban involucrados en el incidente. Los dos fueron demandados por los demandantes diciendo que era su culpa por la contratación de guardias de seguridad que se sabía que eran miembros de bandas locales. La familia de Carter afirmó que los guardias de seguridad instigados Knight, ya que le quitan de la localización de la película, haciendo que su rabia mientras conducía fuera de la set, golpeando Carter y Sloan.

Madonna, along with Shep Pettibone and Warner Bros, was sued for copyright infringement over her song “Vogue.”  The Plaintiff, VMG Salsoul LLC, claimed “Vogue” illegally sampled a 0.23 second horn section from their song “Love Break,” which Pettibone also worked on.  The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Madonna.

Georgia teen, Christal McGee, faces felony charges after allegedly using the Snapchat speedometer filter moments before a collision with another driver, Wentworth Maynard.  Maynard was left in a coma for weeks and suffered permanent damage to his brain. Although snapchat claims, based on activity logs, McGee was not using the app at the time of the accident, Maynard’s family is requesting the company remove the speedometer feature from the app entirely.

The Federal Government is moving to ban all sales of items containing African elephant ivory within the U.S. The new regulation comes out of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and it will go into effect on July 6, 2016.  This move intends to further limit the market for traffickers of legal ivory. Also, since the United States is one of the largest markets for illegal ivory, the officials hope the new regulation will largely shut down the U.S. demand for illegal ivory.

Domino’s Pizza is accused of systematically under counting the hours worked by employees at its franchises.  According to the New York attorney general, Domino’s required all franchisees to use payroll software known as Pulse, which led to a systematic under calculation of the workers’ wages. The lawsuit contends that Domino’s is accountable for what its franchises are doing while Domino’s parent company refuses to take responsibilities for its franchisees, claiming franchisees are “solely responsible for the hiring, firing and payment of their own employees”.

Juguar Land Rover is suing Chinese automaker Jiangling Motor for copying the British

firm’s Range Rover Evoque. The lawsuit is related to Jiangling’s Landwind X7 Sport utility vehicle

copying the design of Evoque, JLR’s first China-made model that went on sale last year. The two

SUV have a very similar shape, but the X7 costs around a third of the price of Evoque and is way

behind in technology and performance. The lawsuit could be a long process. However, If JLR

wins the case, it could prompt other automaker to take legal action, as well as speed up the

enforcement of intellectual property, said a Beijing-based lawyer at Zhong Lun Law Firm.

The Department of Education revealed proposed rules this week that would ban colleges from using mandatory arbitration clauses and class action waivers that have been forcing students to resolve disputes in private. This new rule would expand new protections for students and allow more people to take colleges to court.

“By allowing students to bring lawsuits against a school for alleged wrong doing, the regulations remove the veil of secrecy, create increased transparency, and give borrowers full access to legal redress.” – U.S. Under Secretary of Education, Ted Mitchell.

Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page appeared in the court today to face a “Stairway to Heaven” copyright lawsuit. The 2014 lawsuit claims that the band stole the lick from a 1968 song called “Taurus” by the band Spirit and made it the intro to “Stairway to Heaven”. Peter Anderson, a lawyer for Led Zeppelin, said today there was no evidence that they stole the “Stairway to Heaven’’ opening and the Wolfe estate does not own the copyright.
